Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Support Worker to lead our team in delivering exceptional care within our Supported Living Services for individuals with complex and challenging needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing person-centred care, mentoring support staff, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to empower independence, promote wellbeing, and maintain a safe, positive environment. Expertise in managing complex emotional and behavioural needs, coupled with strong leadership skills, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring safety, dignity, and empowerment in line with individualised support plans.
  • Supervise and support personal care routines while guiding junior staff to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Provide expert support for individuals managing mental health and behavioural needs and mentor staff in best practices.
  • Respond to challenging behaviours using advanced de-escalation techniques to ensure calm, consistent interventions.
  • Supervise daily living support, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and community engagement, promoting independence and high standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and lead care planning, contributing to multidisciplinary reviews and risk assessments.
  • Promote social inclusion by supporting service users in attending appointments, activities, and community events.
  • Lead on safeguarding practices, risk management strategies, and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and service improvement by mentoring and training support staff.
  • Collaborate with external professionals to ensure holistic, coordinated care delivery.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a social care or supported living setting.
  • Care Certificate and CPI Safety Intervention Foundation Training.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred planning, and health and safety.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with the ability to lead shift coordination.
  • Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship available for qualifying candidates).
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 4 or 5 in Health and Social Care (or committed to pursuing this qualification).
  • First Aid at Work Level 3 certification.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring in a supported living setting.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle (desirable).

  • Advanced competence in managing seizures, including rescue medication administration, and training others in these techniques.
  • Expertise in de-escalating challenging behaviours professionally and mentoring staff in these techniques.
  • Proficient in personal care, daily activity planning, and leading domestic task coordination.
  • Strong IT skills for maintaining accurate electronic care records, audits, and reports.
  • Awareness of COSHH and CQC regulations .
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
