Job Description
We are seeking reliable and compassionate Support Workers to join our expanding team in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring flexibility to cover a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
The role involves providing high-quality personal care and specialist clinical support, including tracheostomy care and ligature risk management, for individuals with complex health needs.
Applicants must be trained in ligature response and competent in tracheostomy care, with a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personal care including hygiene support, dressing, mobility assistance, and meal preparation.
  • Manage tracheostomy care safely and confidently, following clinical guidelines.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to ligature incidents using approved intervention techniques.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and other basic clinical observations accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment aligned with infection control and health and safety standards.
  • Follow individual care plans and escalate concerns promptly to senior staff.
  • Participate in team handovers, training sessions, and reflective practice discussions.
  • Promote dignity, independence, and choice in all aspects of care delivery.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience in tracheostomy care
  • Care Certificate (completed or willingness to complete upon appointment).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a personal vehicle.
  • Legal right to work in the UK (please note: sponsorship is not available).
  • Willingness to travel outside Stoke-on-Trent if required.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Trained in Anti-Ligature
  • Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Level 3 certification.
  • Previous experience in supported living or residential care
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex physical health needs.

  • Strong understanding of risk management, infection control, safeguarding, and clinical governance, particularly in tracheostomy care and ligature incidents.

  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development, attending all mandatory and specialist training sessions.
