Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Bank Support Worker to join our team in Tamworth. This role is dedicated to supporting individuals within a Supported Living Service who are living with epilepsy, depression, anxiety, and challenging behaviours.
The successful candidate will work alongside healthcare professionals and support staff to deliver person-centred care that empowers independence, promotes wellbeing, and ensures a safe and positive environment. Experience in managing complex emotional and behavioural needs is essential, along with a proactive and calm approach.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised, safe, and compassionate care as outlined in person-centred support plans.
  • Support service users with personal care while maintaining their dignity and encouraging independence.
  • Support individuals to manage and understand their mental health and behavioural needs.
  • Respond to challenging behaviour with calm, consistent, and safe de-escalation techniques.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to seizure activity and follow epilepsy care protocols.
  • Assist with day-to-day living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning and multidisciplinary reviews.
  • Promote social inclusion and support individuals in attending appointments, activities, and events.
  • Uphold safeguarding principles and contribute to risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and external professionals to ensure holistic care delivery.
 
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience working with individuals with epilepsy, mental health conditions, or challenging behaviours.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding, person-centred planning, and health & safety.
  • Care Certificate (completed or willingness to complete upon hire).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a social care or supported living environment.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Legal right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available).
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle is desirable.
 
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Epilepsy Awareness Training (including administration of rescue medication).
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Previous experience supporting individuals in supported living settings.
